Your result
Your Examiners send their reports and your candidature will be considered at the next available meeting of the Degree Committee.
The Degree Committee is the awarding body for the MPhil Degree and immediately after the meeting the result will be entered in CamSIS. You will be sent an email informing you of the result and advising you on the next steps for graduation, or in the case of failure, what to do if you think the result unfair. Your Examiners' reports will be attached to the email. Outcomes of the examination are:
- pass;
- or revise and resubmit for further examination;
- or fail
For information on obtaining the certificate and a transcript, see the Student Registry website.
Hardbound copy
You do not need to submit a corrected hardbound copy for the University Library - this is not a requirement for the MPhil Degree.
What about submitting an electronic copy? On completion of your degree you may wish to deposit an electronic copy of your thesis to the University repository, Apollo. You can do this using the upload form at https://upload.repository.cam.ac.uk/ where you will also find further information. The electronic copy must be identical to the final version approved by your examiners. The Degree Committee strongly advises you to read very carefully the information on the repository website about copyright, pre-publication and third-party rights before deciding whether to do this. If in doubt, ask your Supervisor and the Apollo team for advice before proceeding.
Examination review
An MPhil by thesis student who fails the examination and feels unfairly treated, or fails to complete it through illness or other serious impediment, has access to the University's Examination Review procedure.
