Membership

Members

The constitution of the Degree Committee specifies that its membership is derived from that of the Faculty Board, minus the student members, but with a separate Degree Committee Secretary, who deals with day-to-day business on behalf of the Degree Committee. The members from 1 January 2026 are:

Class (a) (5): Prof. Marie Edmonds (Earth Sciences), Prof. Emma Mawdsley (Geography), Prof. Clive Oppenheimer (Geography), Prof. Sergei Lebedev (Earth Sciences), Prof. Marc Macias Fauria (Geography).

Class (b) (2): Dr Nicole Shibley (Earth Sciences), Prof. Mia Gray (Geography)

Class (c) (6): Prof. Oscar Branson (Earth Sciences), Prof. Ian Farnan (Earth Sciences), Prof. Nicholas Tosca (Earth Sciences),  Prof. Michael Bravo (Geography), Dr Matthew Osman (Geography), Prof. Gareth Rees* (Geography/SPRI).

Director of the Scott Polar Research Institute: Prof. Richard Powell.

Ex officio : Director of Postgraduate Education of the Department of Geography (if not already a member), and the Secretary (Megan Paul Lynch)

The Director of Postgraduate Studies of the Department of Earth Sciences is invited to attend as required.
